The 82nd Training Wing
Sheppard's host wing produces 80,000 technical training graduates annually at about 60 locations worldwide. The wing delivers about 1,000 courses in aircraft maintenance, civil engineering, explosive ordnance disposal, nuclear and conventional munitions, low observables, aerospace ground equipment, metals technology, avionics, aircraft systems, vehicle operations and telecommunications. Students include enlisted members, officers and civilians from all branches of the service as well as international students.
The wing also delivers about 40 percent of all Community College of the Air Force courses and awards about 600,000 credit hours to graduates annually.
- Mission: Build, Strengthen and Sustain Global Combat Capability Through Superior Technical Training
- Vision: Combat Capability Starts Here!
The Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program--world's only internationally staffed and managed pilot training program--has operated at Sheppard since 1981. Flying more than 60,000 sorties annually, ENJJPT busy pace of operations makes Sheppard the fourth-busiest airfield in the Air Force.
While most flying training bases have international students, ENJJPT is unique. Programs such as those at Columbus and Randolph Air Force Bases are U.S. programs in which international students often participate. ENJJPT, on the other hand, is an international program in which U.S. students participate. The 13 partner nations provide oversight, leadership, instructor pilots and students for the program. The 80th FTW is also the only pilot training program that conducts Undergraduate Pilot Training, Pilot Instructor Training and Introduction to Fighter Fundamentals courses.
